Watch 35
Good news everyone! The majority of my family, friends, and coworkers have all agreed that I should go for Watch 50. I have yet to determine if it’s because they believe in me, or just want to see me suffer. Only time will tell.
This watch I’m going to try and account for all of Mana One’s financial loss and mismanagement that occurred throughout the movie. Please know that every item listed (unless its cost is specifically stated in the movie) has been researched to the best of my ability.
- Giant neon “Mana One” sign – $900
- Card Access Control System – $15,000
(Y’all are on a remote deep sea station. You don’t need anything that fancy) - Clear Observation Tunnels (Again, this isn’t SeaWorld) – $20,000,000
- Yellow Walkie Talkies w/Charging Station (previously referenced on Watch 22) – $500
- Industrial Office Coffee Machine (Visible at 8:12) – $150
- Black Walkie Talkies w/Charging Station (Visible at 11:04) – $250
- NOTE: We are entering the Meeting Room space, and let me tell you this scene is chock-full of needless and expensive items!
- Curved Wood Paneling Wall – $150,000
- Nondescript Alcohol that can all agree was expensive – $75
- Floating Shelves w/Light Backing – $125
(Just buy some bookshelves at IKEA like the rest of us) - Artificial Designer Tree – $600 (seriously)
- Two Bamboo Wall Dividers – $300
- Various Decorative Vases – $150
- Terracotta warrior statue – $275
- Bonsai Trees – $90
- NOTE: For once, it’s a good thing that Jason Statham’s Thailand apartment looks like it’s entirely furnished with either cheap or stolen items.
- Two Premium Golf Carts – $712
- The Blood Pressure Monitor that Heller does not know how to use – $50
- Damages to Suyin’s 1st Yellow Glider (mild) – $5,000,000
- Ceiling Shower Heads – $6,475
(Way too fancy for a research facility. These characters are lucky they aren’t stuck with communal showers)
One shower head would be on average $185 (Amazon), multiplied by however many people are stationed on Mana One (I generously settled on 35 people based on characters listed on IMDb and visible extras throughout). - Glass Door Mini Fridge – $10,500
(Briefly visible at 40:39 and furnished in presumably every living quarters) One mini fridge would be $300. I used the same calculations as the shower head. - Coco Cola for Mini Fridges – $5,000
- Rover (Price given) – $20,000,000
- Lori’s Sub (Price given) – $30,000,000
- NOTE: I consider the Fin Roomba essential, so it is not included on this list.
- Polycarbonate Shark Cage – $8,000
(They couldn’t have known they’d be facing a meg, and therefore should have been using the average-style shark cage, like Mandy Moore from the movie 47 Meters Down) - NOTE: At one point, Mac is talking to Jason Statham using his earpiece while holding an unused walkie talkie
- Two Fishing Boat Cranes – $15,000
- The Sunken Boat – $5,000,000
- Statham’s Glider (completely destroyed) – $25,000,000
Total Cost: $105,208,624
But on the plus side, I’m sure Suyin saved tons of money from not hiring a nanny to look after Meiying.
Rating: Hell Yeah!
