I had to tell one of my friends that I couldn’t visit her island on Animal Crossing right now, because I had to watch The Meg. Not one of my best moments, but definitely not my worst either.

• For the longest time I used to confuse the words marinara and mariana. On the rare occasions I had to actually say “Mariana Trench,” I’d just kind of mumble marinara and hope no one noticed.
• I’d like to believe Morris squinting at the camera (25:11) is a direct homage to The Office.
• I really appreciate that the production team chose to build portions of the shark for the actors to interact with. I’m a huge fan of practical effects, so seeing behind the scenes pictures of both the meg and the whale was really cool!
• Current theory as to why Lori and Jason Statham got a divorce: They constantly fought over who got to be the little spoon.
• But now that I’m thinking about it… How did Lori and Statham meet? If she spent ten years with that ‘environmental group that shall remain unnamed,’ and he was working for a deep sea rescue group, there wouldn’t have been many opportunities for their paths to cross.
• Unless… One of Lori’s missions didn’t go quite as planned and she and her team needed rescuing.
• Because all worthwhile Meet-Cutes start with one of the characters blowing up a whaling ship with a DIY torpedo.
